 | Regions of Hungary |

 | Hungary is a landlocked country in the heart of Europe, bordered by Austria and Slovenia from the West, Slovakia and Ukraine from the North, Romania from the East, Serbia and Croatia from the South.
Divided by two rivers flowing through the country from North to South, there are three large regions:
Transdanubia in the West, stretching from the Western border to the Danube. Here we find a very varied landscape from the foot of the Alps through several mountain ranges over undulating hills, the largest Central-European lake to the plains around the Danube river.
Between the two rivers Danube and Tisza, we find more mountains in the North, rolling hills East of the capital, then the plains filled up by the rivers, home to one of the largest national parks, with a very special ecosystem extremely rich in birdlife.
In the Eastern part of the country, on the other side of the Tisza river, there is the Great Plain with a large, dammed-up lake on the river and the endless plains where many indigenous, typically Hungarian bird and stock animals are found. This is also where the famous equestrian culture of Hungary developed and is still very much present.
Those two tours will lead you to most regions of Hungary :
