Hungary has some pretty amazing castles and palaces, from 14th centure medieval ruins to Baroque-style estates. Many of therm are lively tourist destinations, house museums, host events, and generally play significant roles in town life, albeit different ones than for what they were intended. Check out some ofHungary’s castles and maybe plan to work a couple into your next trip to Hungary.

Program
Day 1 Arrival in Budapest
Upon arrival at Budapest airport you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time during the day you might even have time for a short walk.

Day 2 Budapest & Visegrád
The visit starts in the Buda Castle: the Royal Palace, Mathias Church and many other sights are a ’must’ for those on a Castle tour. Then you take a train to Visegrád, one-time royal residence in the picturesque Danube Bend. Return to Budapest in the evening. We provide you with Budapest llocal transport such as train tickets.

Day 3 Komárom & Tata
Train ride to Komárom, visit int he „Monostori erőd” fortress, on the Danube. (World Heritage Site aspirant.) Proceed by train to Tata, visit in the medieval lakeside castle. Return to Budapest by train.

Day 4 Diósgyőr
During your train ride to Miskolc you’ll cross Northern Hungary and the most spectacular mountains: Mátra and Bükk. A suburb of modern Miskolc will surprise you with the well-preserved castle of Diósgyőr. You’ll proceed to the charming town of Eger – also well known for its wines e.g. Bull’s Blood. Dinner and overnight in Eger.

Day 5 Eger
Visit in the medieval castle and Baroque inner city of Eger. We treat you with a tasty lunch of game specialities. Return to Budapest by train.

Day 6 Veszprém & Nagyvázsony
Train ride to Veszprém „Town of Queens”. Walk in the medieval castle district. Bus ride to Nagyvázsony, visit of the castle and castle park. Return to Veszprém, overnight.

Day 7 Sümeg
Train ride to Sümeg. Climb the steep castle hill with the castle on the top.
Optional : entry into the spa hotel at the foot of the castle hill. Return to Budapest by train, across the hilly Balaton Highland and Bakony mountains.

Day 8 End of trip
Your taxi takes you to the airport. We hope you bring along nice memories of the castles of Hungary.
